Yea that was my fault. Sorry about that. This was a spur of the moment thing. I pulled an all nighter last night and stuck in a nice interface for the general public, and for those who are still too lazy to use a splash screen the new for the forum and prefer the forum without the nice fancy interface the URL is http://www.gamersmafia.us/gm/ That will get you into the forum without the splash screen and the interface. I changed the directory to avoid spam bots. Plus, I added a widgetbox RSS feed and added all our posts to a network of RSS feeds for Video Game enthusiasts. Both RSS widgets are now on the main page at http://www.gamersmafia.us . From now on, if I know the site will be down for longer than one hour I will post a message on the splash screen. I plan on upgrading this place a lot and turning it into a full fledged website instead of a dead forum. This is just the first step into the GM becoming a full sized web community. Just doing my part to make it bit more interesting. Online games are next!

A few fixes on the board this morning:
GM PLAYER is working again with the ability to play your own personal MP3's, The administrator badge volunteered by lo xD has been accepted, and all avatars are now auto resized regardless of their original dimensions. In addition, the rank badges are also re-sized automatically to fit in the same dimensions as all the user avatars. Also, I've split all the discussions we have had in the famous last words message board since version 2. Now version 3 topics are the main ones. Version 2 topics have been archived as a separate discussion thread.

Moving up! We are now member #19 in the ranks of the top sites for the widgetbox network video games channel. Not bad for 24 hours. We went from #45 to #19 in one 24 hour period. How do you guys like all the changes? If you try out the portal, the top buttons jump you to the different forums. The menu bar at the bottom does the same for now. Maybe later I'll edit it so that the bottom menu jumps to sub forums. Yea that's what I'll do.

It's now been 48 hours since we have joined the widgetbox network videogames channel. We are now ranked as the #10 most popular site. We will see what this does for us in the long run, for now I think our site looks pretty damn good. #1 in google #10 in the network. We need some other things to bring people in and stay here. How about that online game black nova traders? I'll set it up again but this time it will be public and you won't get a huge amount of turns per day like the last time. This time will be different. Maybe 25 turns or so. What do you guys think, if I set it up are you in? It's really no fun with less than 4 people. 10 is better but pushing it. 5 to 6 players would be good though for a starting game.

@Reno, read my PM to you. I was focusing on functionality not looks. The colored logos are just placeholders. They are default logos that go with the interface before you customize anything. It's part of the XanCastle package. Before you judge any further read my PM to you then post your comments in the thread marked below.

I've tested the xancastle in different resolutions, and it's turned out to be extremely nice. I know you put in a lot of work, and i'm sorry for dismissing it off hand earlier man. Very good job.

Fixing a little bug in phpBB on this forum, you guys probably didn't even notice it. Every member was ranked as "GFX Team" if they were not part of the staff. I deleted the GFX Team rank just to see if my theory is correct as to why that was happening and yes I was right. It was taking the first rank in the list and assigning it to every member. Now it looks even worse, keep in mind not everyone is on probation okay? (That's what it's showing right now) So don't freak out if you are a member and see that under your avatar. I'm hard at work now fixing it. I do think I know the cause, so I'm on it.

Fixed. I Documented the bug in the Tech Support forum. I put back the rank called GM GFX team, but I got rid of the rank called Douche Bag. We don't need that here now that the trouble makers are long gone.

I was browsing on phpBB when I came across a post by a phpBB team member that their board had been hacked. This actually happened around a month ago. I just didn't know about it until now. The attacker exploited a flaw in an unpatched version of phplist, an open source newsletter organizer. The attacker managed to break into phpBB, and found the names and e-mail addresses of 40,000 members, he stole the e-mail addresses along with the MD5 password hashes. The attacker flaunted this attack on his blog. http://hackedphpbb.blogspot.com/2009/01/place-holder.html The phpBB team managed to scramble up an extra server and bring the board back online while the logs are being investigated on the old server. The phpBB team says that this was not a exploit in phpBB, it was a bug in phplist and that they were using an old version. The exploit for that old version was posted and within hours of it being posted phpBB was attacked. The phpBB team says that phpBB3 uses an enhanced password security, better than the one that phpBB2 used. The attacker was only able to get the handles, e-mail addresses and passwords from users who had not logged onto phpBB since they moved to version 3. They suggest that you change your password if you are using the same one that you used on their board.

I would love to see a picture of your muscle car Lion. Maybe post it on flickr and provide a link here or something, My 2004 Dodge Durango Limited also has a Hemi. Those Hemi's can come in handy. Very very nice acceleration when you need it the most. For those of you that don't know, a Hemi is the same type of engine they put into 18 wheeler trucks. Lion has one of those in his car and I have one of those in my SUV.
Beleive it or not but both my 78 firebird formula 400 v8 and 67 mustang fastback 270 straight six would kick the cuda's ass, I only own it because I always liked the look of the cuda since seeing one on the show nash bridges. I'll have pics as soon as i finish them up.

PROFILE BUG FIXED!
Alright, finally I hunted down and fixed the profile bug that has been on everyone's mind lately. I searched the phpBB php code for 9 hours and finally found it. It was one single line. I had to change this:
Into this:
<code>'USERNAME' => isset($userdata['username']) ? $userdata['username'] : ''</code>
in the file named usercp_register.php which was hidden in the includes directory. Anyways the final result means you can view your profile and change your name and no one elses info will be up there except yours. The glitch was also affecting new users. When they registered they had a default username of the last person to log in. It's fixed to say "Anonymous" now.
